The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is the UN's lead body for ocean science, promoting international cooperation to strengthen the management, sustainable use, and resilience of the ocean.

OTGA is a global training network established by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO through its International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) programme.

The OceanTeacher Global Academy (OTGA) has established a global network of Regional and Specialised Training Centres (RTCs & STCs) to deliver customised training for ocean experts and professionals, increasing national and regional capacity in coastal and marine sciences, services, and management.

BMKG became a Specialised Training Centre (STC) for OTGA-IOC in 2021 and has since conducted several activities, including training courses, seminars, and meetings.

The WMO Ina-RTC (World Meteorological Organization Indonesia Regional Training Center) is an official international training hub designated by the WMO. It serves Regional Association V (RA-V), which covers the South-West Pacific region.

The center operates through a joint partnership between the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) and the Ministry of Public Works.

BMKG Ina-RTC was formally recognized by the WMO in 2012 and had its recognition renewed in 2024. It is located at the Centre for Human Resources Development of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics.

BMKG Ina-RTC organizes capacity-building programs, including online and classroom training, in-house training, and on-the-job training. Additionally, it conducts expert meetings and facilitates collaboration between BMKG and other RTCs, or other National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS).

WMO Virtual Laboratory (VLab) is a global network of specialised training centres and meteorological satellite operators working together to improve the use of data and products from meteorological and environmental satellites throughout WMO member countries.

The Centre of Excellence (COE) of the WMO VLab is an institution capable of training users in aspects related to Satellite Meteorology.

BMKG, since 2023, has been awarded as one of the VLab COEs for Education and Training in Satellite Meteorology. We have already conducted several trainings and Regional Focus Group (RFG) Discussions.
